Delphinium climbs in pale, almost translucent spikes — each one carrying a dozen half-open bells along 70 cm of stem. Viburnum opulus, caught in its green phase, rolls below in chartreuse spheres, dense and mossy. Between them, the same tension that runs through Jardin Majorelle: vertical against orb, straight against curve, blue set directly against green — at full volume, no pastels, no half measures. Two clean colours that don't look alike but listen to each other. The blue of delphinium is paler than the legendary cobalt of Bleu Majorelle — it has a cool, almost ceramic light, like a May sky at ten in the morning. The green of viburnum is exactly the vibrating green of Majorelle's cacti: nervy, nearly fluorescent, like the first leaf to open. On any surface — pale wood, marble, black metal, lacquered console — they shift the temperature of the room. Carillon sits on a dining table, by a window, in a hallway you cross every morning. For a dinner where the conversation outweighs the menu. For a birthday you don't want to mark with balloons. For arriving at a friend's place five minutes before you do — the courier rings, the bouquet lands on the table, then you knock. The surprise is already there. Both flowers are available year-round in Paris. Carillon has no season — it has a temperament, like the garden itself, which stays blue and green through a Moroccan winter. In water, delphinium holds for 8–10 days if you trim the stems at an angle and change the water every two days. Viburnum dehydrates faster — a morning mist from a spray bottle keeps it firm.
