Pale-blue oxypetalum against a chrysanthemum the colour of scorched sand — a pairing no style guide would recommend, and it works anyway. Made to order, delivered in Paris.
Description
Helen Frankenthaler painted the sea without ever outlining it — Mountains and Sea, 1952, colour that soaks into the canvas rather than sitting on top of it. This bouquet works the same way: nothing is drawn in outline, one shade simply bleeds into the next.
Two elements, not twenty. Oxypetalum: tiny pale-blue stars, almost transparent, trembling at the smallest draught — the lightest stems in the bouquet, not the quietest. The beige-brown chrysanthemum catches light like kraft paper: matte in the morning, close to gold by late afternoon. Neither tries to cover the other.
This isn't the polite bouquet the word "elegance" suggests. The chrysanthemum holds for over two weeks without losing its shape — it doesn't really wilt, it dries upright, almost on purpose. Oxypetalum goes first: its fragility is part of the design, not a flaw to manage.
A size built for an open shelf, a mantelpiece in a high-ceilinged flat, a desk corner that deserves better than a pen pot — not a wedding banquet table. Made to order, not pulled from stock: each stem is chosen on the day it's prepared.
Delivered in Paris, never the day before — always the right one. Some flower substitutions may occur if we find that the quality of the delivered blooms isn't up to our standards, but the overall color palette and style will remain intact.
